Accounts Officer
The Client
Our client is an established company providing marine support services within the Maltese Islands. They are currently seeking an Accounts Officer who will directly report to the Finance and Control Manager as well as the CFO.
Key Responsibilities
Book-keeping including posting of sales and expenses, invoices, posting of bank transactions and journal entries
Carrying out bank, debtors and creditors reconciliations
Carrying out VAT reconciliations and preparing VAT returns
Assisting in the preparation of tax, social security returns and other statutory submissions
Assisting in the preparation of the monthly management records and accounts
Preparing fortnightly payroll for crews and technical staff and monthly payroll for administrative staff
Preparing abstracts of wages and salaries, and the allocation of them to them accounts
Taking the responsibility for Petty Cash payments and the accounting of them
Issuing local and foreign payments according to company policies and procedures
Taking the responsibility for credit control and chasing of debtors
Ensuring that the requirements of the Company’s Quality and Environmental Management System are followed
At least 3-5 years relevant work experience
Part Qualification in ACCA or Diploma from MCAST
Ability to use payroll and accounting software
Ability to create spreadsheet and reports
Ability to work on its own initiative and in a team
Ability to meet deadlines
Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
Highly organized and have excellent attention to detail
